Evaluation Committee

In the event of an impending budgetary emergency in either of the Länder or the Federation, the Stability Council sets up an evaluation committee to examine the budgetary emergency and to arrange an adjustment programme with the government of the respective entity.

The evaluation committee is comprised of the responsible state secretary from the Federal Ministry of Finance and four state secretaries from the Länder finance ministries. The composition of the evaluation committee is determined by the Stability Council.

On October 15, 2010, the Stability Council established an evaluation committee to support it in carrying out the ongoing consolidation processes in the Länder of Berlin, Bremen, Saarland and Schleswig-Holstein. This work was completed at the June 8, 2021 meeting.

On December 10, 2021, the Stability Council set up an evaluation committee to examine whether a budgetary emergency is imminent in the Land of Bremen.
